Here's your guide to an overnight trip, complete with a stay at Hotel Marvell, drinks at Horizon Rooftop Bar, and a seafood feast at Byron Bay Oyster Bar.

Start Your Journey: Brisbane to Byron Bay

Morning Departure

Kick off your trip with a smooth drive from Brisbane. Grab a coffee and a pastry from your favourite café to fuel you up — because nothing says holiday like a good breakfast on the road! The scenic route will have you feeling the excitement of your getaway as you leave the city behind.

Arrival in Byron Bay

11:00 AM: Arrive in Byron Bay. Time to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere. Take a stroll through the town's charming streets, pop into quirky shops, and maybe even pick up a souvenir or two.

1:30 PM: Before checking in, grab lunch at one of Byron Bay's excellent cafes. Bayleaf Cafe and Top Shop are both local favourites, serving excellent coffee and wholesome breakfast fare.

3:00 PM: Check in at Hotel Marvell. Settle into your suite, freshen up and take a moment to appreciate the calm of your surroundings.

Afternoon at Hotel Marvell

4:00 PM: Head up to Horizon Rooftop Bar for a sunset cocktail. Perched above the hotel, Horizon offers sweeping views of Byron Bay and the perfect vantage point to watch the sun go down. Order a signature cocktail and let the evening begin.

Dinner at Byron Bay Oyster Bar

7:00 PM: Dinner at Byron Bay Oyster Bar, set within Hotel Marvell. Begin with freshly shucked oysters from the live oyster tank, then move on to a refined menu of seafood-led dishes designed for sharing. The room feels intimate yet relaxed, balancing warm textures and soft light with the easy rhythm of a coastal restaurant.

After dinner, take the lift back to Horizon for a nightcap, or retire to your suite for a well-earned rest.

Day Two: Exploring Byron Bay

7:00 AM: Wake early and take the Cape Byron Walking Track to the lighthouse for sunrise. The 3.7-kilometre loop offers panoramic views of the coastline and, between May and November, the chance to spot migrating whales.

9:00 AM: Breakfast at Three Blue Ducks at The Farm, a short drive from the centre of town. The farm-to-table menu is built around locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

11:00 AM: Spend the morning at the beach. Main Beach and Wategos Beach are both beautiful options for a swim, a surf or simply a walk along the sand.

1:00 PM: Lunch at Beach Byron Bay at Clarkes Beach, where every table looks towards the water and the seasonal menu follows the rhythms of the Northern Rivers.

3:00 PM: Explore the Arts and Industry Estate, home to some of Byron Bay's best creative businesses, including galleries, studios and shops.

5:00 PM: Return to Hotel Marvell for a final cocktail at Horizon before the drive back to Brisbane.

The Drive Home

6:00 PM: Depart Byron Bay for the drive back to Brisbane. With a full heart and a camera full of photos, you'll arrive home feeling refreshed, recharged and already planning your next visit.
